Building A Community

A school is more than a name, it’s more than a number, it’s more than a building. A school is a community of individuals, including staff and students who come together daily to grow, learn, support, thrive, comfort, etc. It’s a home away from home for most if not for all.

Mayor Bill de Blasio and Schools Chancellor Richard A. Carranza today announced the City will move towards a new Remote Learning Model for all school days until Spring Recess.

Students will not report to school buildings for instruction during this time. School buildings are scheduled to reopen to students following Spring Recess on Monday, April 20, 2020.

Alfred E. Smith Career and Technical Education High School aims to provide its students with the best Career and academic education. Our integrated instructional program will result in a Regents or Advanced Regents Diploma with a Career and Technical endorsement, both of which are recognized by universities and major corporations throughout the United States. We offer students a solid preparation for college and training for employment in automotive trades, and graphic design industries.

Our ninth grade program is a specifically designed schedule aimed at transitioning students into high school by providing additional academic support in both ELA and Math. Students immediately begin their career sequence in ninth grade with hands-on classes in their CTE program. Our College and Career Center counsels students as they develop their post-secondary plans by offering frequent college trips, mentoring, and internship opportunities, and career interest workshops.
